Sparks’ Cameron Brink transported to locker room after knee injury in Sun game

Los Angeles entered Tuesday’s game against the Connecticut Sun on a three-game losing streak, and things quickly got worse for the Sparks when rookie Cameron Brink left the game with an injury.

The second overall draft pick was charging toward Bri Jones from the top of the key with 6:23 left in the first quarter when she fell to the ground. Brink immediately appeared to be in extreme pain and grabbed his left knee. She limped off the field and was helped back to the locker room, not returning to the bench for the remainder of the first half. The Sparks announced at halftime that she would be out for the remainder of the game due to her knee.

Brink played in all 14 games for the Sparks during his rookie season and is second in the league in block percentage in his first year. She missed one game during her senior season at Stanford due to a leg contusion on her left shin.

Brink was recently named to the US Olympic 3×3 team after winning MVP and a gold medal at the 3×3 World Cup in 2023. Any significant injury could hamper her ability to compete in Paris at the alongside Hailey Van Lith, Rhyne Howard and Cierra Burdick. .

The Sparks ultimately fell to the Sun, 79-70.
