The Boys’ New Firecracker Character Was Inspired by Marjorie Taylor Greene

Amazon Prime’s hit TV series The boys is officially back for its fourth season. One of these new characters, The boys Firecracker, was just revealed to have been inspired by Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Showrunner Eric Kripke revealed this interesting detail while speaking with Variety. He adds that his character is also specifically inspired by individuals who continued to follow Donald Trump even after his presidency.

Kripke adds that this parallel exists within The boys now, with characters who have taken on Homelander’s ideologies. It’s clear that this superhero satire also understands how real-world politics works and, furthermore, how the ideologies of that politics can be transmitted to other people.

Here’s what Kripke shared about it and how Firecracker represents it in The boys first discussing Marjorie Taylor Greene:

“The firecracker was like, ‘Hey, isn’t Marjorie Taylor Greene scary?’ And just that personality type. It starts.

“For example, you had Trump, but now you have these Trump offspring trying to outdo each other because of how outrageous, sexualized, gun-toting, slavishly obedient they are. »

He adds that this is directly linked to Homelander and the characters he himself inspired:

“And just that idea – it wouldn’t start and end with Homelander, he would start creating these spores that would become these other characters, and she’s a version of that.”

It’s certainly an interesting way to keep the series intriguing during its fourth season, and furthermore, to continue the political commentary that has found its way into the series since the very beginning. With The boys is set to conclude with its upcoming fifth season, however, we will have to see where this evolution of the show’s characters takes us next.
