Missouri gardeners are warned to immediately stop using this tiller

It’s one of the most popular gardening utilities in America and certainly in Missouri, but it has a dangerous flaw that has caused the government to warn gardeners to use it immediately.

I wish I had a nickel for every garden my father managed in rural Missouri. He had one when we lived in town too. One of his favorite tools was a cordless tiller similar to the one currently under an emergency shutdown order from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

They just put out this bulletin saying “Black & Decker recalls CRAFTSMAN V20 cordless tillers/cultivators due to laceration hazard.”

The problem isn’t so much with the tiller/cultivator as it is with the instructions on how to assemble it. The instructions sent with the tongue were incorrect and could lead to sharp parts on the bottom becoming a laceration hazard due to incorrect assembly.

If you are a Missouri gardener and own one of these Black and Decker tools, look for UPC number 885911843430. If you find this number, you should immediately stop using the tiller and contact the manufacturer for new, correct instructions on how it is supposed to be assembled.
