UGC-NET June 2024 exam canceled after exam integrity compromised

NEW DELHI: The June 2024 UGC-NET exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency, which was held on Tuesday was canceled following concerns over the integrity of the exam.

Inputs from India’s Cybercrime Coordination Center suggested possible compromises, prompting the education ministry to take action. A further examination will be scheduled and the case has been referred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for further investigation.

The exam was conducted in OMR (pen and paper) mode and was conducted in two shifts in different cities. On June 19, 2024, the University Grants Commission received indications from cybersecurity authorities that the integrity of the examination may have been compromised.

To maintain transparency and integrity, the Ministry of Education has decided to cancel the UGC-NET exam from June 2024. A fresh exam will be conducted and details regarding the same will be communicated separately.

“Any individual/organization involved in this matter will be subject to the strictest measures,” the ministry said, emphasizing its commitment to the sanctity of exams and protecting the interests of students.

In a related issue regarding the NEET(UG) 2024 exam, the government has addressed the issue of pardons. Moreover, allegations of irregularities in Patna have led to a demand for a detailed report from the economic offenses unit of the Bihar Police. The government will take further action based on this report.
