Lawton intersection removed and stop signs installed in its place

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) – City of Lawton crews were on West Gore Boulevard earlier today, June 19, to remove some traffic signals after a City Council vote last week.

The Lawton City Council approved the removal of traffic signals at West Gore and 4th Street at the June 11 council meeting. The lights will be replaced with stop signs for northbound and southbound traffic.

In May, the city changed the lights at the intersection to operate in flash mode, with traffic on Gore receiving yellow flashing lights and traffic on 4th Street receiving red flashing lights. This made the intersection function as a two-way stop.

Now, northbound and southbound traffic will see stop signs at the intersection.
