Fulton County Medical Center Foundation Announces Scholarships

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Twenty-nine students are receiving help to pursue careers in healthcare.

The Fulton County Medical Center Foundation announced this week that six high school students and 23 college students will receive between $1,000 and $3,500.

“They each shared their excitement about their career aspirations, whether they are beginning or about to complete their college journey,” said Mike Straley, executive director of the FCMC Foundation. “Our committee was impressed by the different areas of study our youth are pursuing…nursing, medicine, dentistry, optometry, mortuary sciences, occupational/physical/respiratory therapies, clinical psychology, ultrasound, paramedic, biomedical engineering, surgical technology and pharmacy. Our scholarship committee is pleased to be able to award scholarships to help them achieve their goals.

“Thanks to financial support from the community, these awards are made possible and we are grateful every year,” Straley added.

The FCMC Foundation’s primary scholarship fundraiser is its annual Bluegrass & BBQ each spring. The 10th annual event will take place on Friday, April 25, 2025, with the award-winning Volume 5 performing for this special evening.

“This is a milestone anniversary for this fundraiser and it will be a special celebration,” Straley said.
