A curious adoptable dog from Ohio is ready for summer sprinklers

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Gonzo, a dog at the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center, is ready to join a family for summer vacation.

Hannah Henschen, animal care manager, said the 4-year-old male pit bull had a taste for adventure, but he also loved playing in the water. Gonzo has been at the shelter for a few months as of Wednesday, and she doesn’t know why he hasn’t been adopted yet.

“It would be great for the summer.” I think he would be perfect for hiking, maybe going to a park somewhere, or to a lake or pond, something he can swim in,” Henschen said. “He likes to play with sprinklers and lounge in the water, so he’s a really fun guy.”

Henschen added that Gonzo gets along well with other dogs, but would need to meet them before adopting. She noted that he is a very curious dog and loves spending time exploring.

“He has energy, but I think if he has these adventurous outings, after his adventure time, he’ll probably just lie on the couch and hang out with you,” Henschen said.

Gonzo is available for meetings at the Franklin County Dog Shelter, located at 4340 Tamarack Blvd. in Columbus and it only costs $18 to adopt. Below are some additional dogs to adopt as well:

• Accustomed to potty training and walks well on a leash, according to the shelter
• Gets along well with dogs but should meet others at home before adoption

• Black and White Terrier and Pitbull Mix
• 1 year old male
• Motivated by food and knows how to sit on command, according to the shelter
• Gets along well with other dogs, but should meet others in the home before adoption
• Neutered and up to date on shots

• Beige and Lilac Medium Breed Mix
• 8 year old female
• Home trained
• Spared and up to date with photos
