“The most ridiculous requirement is that there be a boss who charges 2 lakh per day for preparing food that looks like… ye khana hai ya bird food. Itna chhota sa aata tha. Health problem ka tha thoda. Main sir yehi khata hu (is this food or bird food? Before she was so small. The actor had a health problem. They claimed it was the only thing they ate) ”said Anurag.

Anurag narrated another incident when an actor requested that his driver be sent to a five-star hotel to get him a burger made of a specific bun and non-vegan ingredients. The driver had to make three hours of round trips each from the remote location. Anurag joked that the burger would have gone cold by the time it reached the actor.

“It’s the producers and their agents’ fault. I don’t know why producers allow it on their sets. This doesn’t happen on my sets,” he added. Anurag said even hair and makeup artists charge 75,000 per day, much more than technicians. He said if he had been a hair and makeup artist he would be a lot richer.

What his colleague says

Anurag’s long-time aide Nawazuddin Siddiqui also echoed his sentiment. “ “Actors have a lot of unnecessary demands, they want everything to be lavish. I’ve even heard that some actors have five vanity vans: one for working out, one for cooking, one for eating, swimming, practicing lines, etc. Yeah paagalpan hai. koi paagal hi hoga jo paanch vanity van leke chalta hai (This is madness. Only someone crazy can walk around with 5 vanity vans),” Nawazuddin said.

Anurag will next be seen as a villain in the Disney+ Hotstar series Bad Cop. He is also gearing up for the release of his long-pending film, Kennedy.
