‘Mama June: Family Crisis’: Pumpkin and Jessica are shocked by Anna’s rapid decline (Exclusive)

Published: 1:01 p.m. PDT, June 20, 2024

Pumpkin and Jessica are heartbroken that Anna isn’t in the holiday spirit.

In an exclusive clip from Friday’s episode of Mama June: family crisisPumpkin and Jessica visit Anna, after Mama June informs them that her cancer has gotten worse.

“Why did you come here?” Anna, who is hooked to an oxygen tank, playfully asks her sisters as they enter.

“Well, to give you a hard time,” Pumpkin said.

“Mom texted us girls that Anna was rapidly declining, so Jessica and I both wanted to make sure she was okay,” Pumpkin explains in a side interview.

Back in Anna’s living room, the sisters have no time to cry and playfully compliment her on the lack of hair on her face. Yet, amidst the laughter, Pumpkin can’t help but ask Anna for her breathing assistance.

“So, with the oxygen, you have to wear it all the time?” she asks Anna.

“There are days…I’ve been wearing it for the last three days because I had a little tightness in my chest,” Anna says.

In a side interview, Pumpkin breaks down over the reality of her sister’s health.

“It’s crazy that she’s on oxygen,” Pumpkin tells Jessica as she chokes.

“So fast, everything happens so fast,” adds Jessica.

“She was breathing on her own a few weeks ago,” Pumpkin says. “It really changed very quickly.”

In Anna’s living room, Pumpkin points out that she hasn’t even decorated for Christmas, which is historically Anna’s favorite holiday. Although Anna attributes this to her husband Eldridge’s busy work schedule, her sisters know it’s another harsh reality of his declining health.

“Anna is a huge lover of Christmas,” Pumpkin said in an interview. “Normally this girl decorates the day after Thanksgiving for Christmas and looking around and not seeing any type of Christmas stuff is kind of like hitting me because that’s how you know it’s okay wrong.”

Anna died in December after fighting stage 4 adrenal carcinoma. THE mother of two children was 29 years old.

Ahead of Mama June: family crisis‘ back, ET spoke with Mom June, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson And Jessica Shannon who reflected on the moments before Anna’s death – where she is said to have retained her sense of humor.

“She was making jokes the night before. She was making jokes. She was like, ‘Mom, you’re so loud!'” Alana remembers. “And then she wanted steak so bad. She knew for a fact she wasn’t going to eat the steak, but she wanted the steak.”

June admitted that she thinks about that “very horrible” moment “every day,” but noted that she and her family manage to feel Anna’s presence “all the time.”

“She’s here with us today. We’re talking about her. (Jessica) got a tattoo. We’re keeping her alive,” Mama June said, before Pumpkin agreed, saying, “I have the impression that we still keep her memory alive tells us a lot about her.”
