Trevor Lawrence has a clear message for the Jaguars

Earlier this month, Trevor Lawrence received a new contract from the Jacksonville Jaguars that makes him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the entire league. But even more than the money, it seems Lawerence is just happy to be able to stay in Jacksonville for the foreseeable future.

During a recent press conference, Trevor Lawrence discussed his new contract with the team and he sent a pretty clear message to the Jaguars about how happy he is to stay in the city and play for the team for the coming years.

“I think obviously financially it’s amazing and it really sets us up for the future and the rest of our lives. So it’s a huge blessing – obviously it’s a big deal. But I think more than that, it’s the stability of being here long term,” Lawrence said during his press conference according to Pro Football Talk. “To be able to say we’re going to be here and have confidence and know that, it means a lot to us. And we love it here. It has become our home. Our families love it, our families love visiting here. And we’ve really settled in – it’s our home. So we wanted to stay here long term.

“Obviously it’s a place we love to live in and we know that because we’ve had good times and bad times as far as football is concerned. So we’ve kind of experienced both and we love being here anyway. And obviously the way the organization is going and the direction we’re going on the football side, it obviously makes it a no-brainer for us. We’re going in the right direction and I want to be the quarterback here. I want to bring a championship to Jacksonville. That’s my goal. And I really know we can do it.

Obviously, Lawrence isn’t complaining about the money — it’s a life-changing pay raise — but he’s clearly very excited to stay in Jacksonville with the team. After all, he could have gotten a similar contract to play in another city if that’s what he wanted.
