Barcelona offered chance to sign Assane Diao

Intermediaries have reportedly offered Barcelona the chance to sign 18-year-old Spanish winger Assane Diao from fellow La Liga club Real Betis.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will have the opportunity to sign Assane Diao in the summer transfer window. Intermediaries have offered the Blaugrana the chance to sign the 18-year-old winger from fellow La Liga club Real Betis. The youngster will be available for around €15 million.

Who is Assane Diao?

Assane Diao has established himself as one of the best young wingers in La Liga since breaking into the first-team squad at Real Betis. Born in Ndongane, he has been eligible to represent Spain and Senegal internationally but has chosen the former as his national side in age-group football.

The 18-year-old joined Real Betis in July 2021 before rapidly progressing through the ranks at the Andalusian club. Diao made his first-team debut at the onset of the 2023/24 season, and he enjoyed a solid maiden campaign with Los Verdiblancoschipping in with four goals in 28 outings across all competitions while amassing over 1,500 minutes of game time.

Meanwhile, the young winger’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Recent reports have linked the Spanish youth international with Premier League bigwigs. However, Barcelona will have the opportunity to secure Assane Diao’s services in the summer transfer window.
