,000 reward to catch LA shooter who paralyzed father – NBC Los Angeles

After a father of three was paralyzed following a shooting near MacArthur Park, a $25,000 reward was offered Thursday to find the shooter responsible for the crime, Los Angeles police said.

The shooting occurred on April 6 around 8:45 p.m., as the victim, Luis Hernández, was closing up his bookstore with his wife on South Alvarado Street near 7th Street. He had parked his vehicle in front of the store with his three children inside, aged 2, 4 and 8 years old.

As Hernandez noticed two women arguing between his vehicle and a silver Toyota Camry double-parked next to his, he walked toward the car to check on the situation and ensure the safety of his children, police said .

Then he saw the Camry’s rear passenger side window roll down with a “gun pointed directly at him,” according to Officer Christian Marroquin.

After the gunman fired his gun, causing Hernandez to collapse, the suspect’s car sped off, heading north on Alvarado Street, then east on 7th Street, said the LAPD.

“We don’t know if they are witnesses or if they are involved,” police said. “We just know that they were in the immediate area where the shooting took place.”

The LAPD released a series of images of a vehicle and people who were “in the immediate vicinity” during the shooting.

According to images released by the LAPD, the suspect’s silver Toyota Camry, likely manufactured between 2008 and 2015, had four doors, a sunroof and tinted windows.

The man of interest, who was approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighed 180 pounds, was seen wearing a black hat and gray shirt.

The female person of interest is 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the LAPD’s Rampart Division.
