Emergency manager gives urgent message to drivers

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Our wet weather is leading to higher water levels in southeast South Dakota. several roads are closed and barriers are erected in Minnehaha County.

Emergency Manager Jason Gearman has an urgent message for drivers.

You never know what gets washed away by the water flowing on the road. And what happens a lot, the car can stall, and then the water continues to rise and can push the car into the ditch or into debris. And that’s where it gets dangerous because, you know, the car could be totally underwater,” Gearman said.
