Currituck County deputy hit by car while at stop sign

CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — A Currituck County sheriff’s deputy was struck by a vehicle Friday morning while running at a stop sign, deputies said.

The deputy was sitting at a stop sign on Taylors Road when a vehicle heading north on US Hwy 168 left the travel lane and struck the front driver’s side of the vehicle of the sheriff.

The driver was cited for failure to maintain his lane and failure to wear a seat belt. No major injuries were reported.
