Café Beaujolais in Eagle Rock announces closure after 25 years – Daily News

After 25 years of activity, Café Beaujolais in Eagle Rock, a restaurant known for its French cuisine, will permanently close its doors on July 1st.

“It’s been a pleasure to serve the Eagle Rock community for 25 years, but unfortunately we can’t afford to stay open much longer,” said a message posted to the restaurant’s Instagram page on Thursday, June 20. “The next week and a half is your last chance to enjoy classic French cuisine prepared by Chef Norbert, who has been with us since the beginning. I hope to see you soon.

Café Beaujolais was known for its authentic French cuisine, served by French-speaking staff and enjoyed by Eagle Rock’s Francophiles. “Everything is French, even the attitude,” the restaurant boasts. The menu included classic dishes like Coq Au Vin, Escargots de Bourgogne and Poulet Dijonais. Guests who frequented the place for date nights and birthday parties described its vibe as warm and intimate, gushing in online reviews about the candlelit tables and resident pianist who rated the place all the way. throughout the week and on weekends.

Chef Norbert ran the kitchen at Café Beaujolais for over 20 years, and his sister Caroline joined the team after the café reopened post-pandemic. According to the restaurant’s social media pages, they have over 100 years of cooking experience together.

Several customers took to the restaurant’s Instagram page to express their despair upon hearing the news of the closure.

“This makes me very sad,” wrote Pamela Brull. “Thank you for serving our community for 25 years. It certainly doesn’t seem like that long. You brought class to Eagle Rock.

“Thank you for being a French presence at Eagle Rock. Good luck,” wrote Rimona Seay. The comment translates to “Thank you for being a French presence at Eagle Rock. Good luck.”

Even one of the former resident pianists at Café Beaujolais commented and said he was sorry to hear the sad news.
