‘Harry Potter’ Star Matthew Lewis Says He Would Consider Appearing in Max Reboot

Harry Potter Star Matthew Lewis says he might be interested in appearing in the upcoming TV reboot of Max if asked.

The actor, who played Neville Longbottom in all eight films Harry Potter films, told PEOPLE that he’s “in no rush to get back out into the world” but would “definitely think about it.”

“The reason I took this job in the first place was because I have a very short attention span,” Lewis said while at the New York Harry Potter store. “I’m very, very incapable of maintaining anything for any length of time. I have had many, many hobbies and passions over the years. I still haven’t made a single one. I fall madly in love with things and forget them almost immediately.

New Harry Potter The TV series is set to run for “10 consecutive years” and will feature stories from all seven of JK Rowling’s books. Lewis admits he can’t wait to see what the showrunners do with the series, currently scheduled for 2026.

He adds that if he was asked to play a role in the series, he’s not sure what he would do.

“It’s not something I would consider or want to do but wouldn’t disdain,” he said. “I’d be very interested to see if it was Neville as an adult – a completely different vibe. This could be interesting. I would definitely look into this and think about it.

Lewis says his favorite thing about acting is that it’s always changing, so he never has to “stick to one thing.”

“I’ve been a nurse, I’ve been a police officer, I’ve been a soldier, I’ve been a wizard, I’ve been all these different things,” he says. “I never know what’s going to happen next, and I love it.”

While we don’t know whether or not Neville will appear in the new series, we do know that Daniel Radcliffe is not interested in returning.

The original Harry Potter himself said in July 2023 that he did not want to participate in the new series.

“I’m definitely not looking for it,” he said, adding that the series is a “fresh start” aimed at a completely new cast.

“But I obviously wish them all the luck in the world and I’m very happy that this torch has been passed,” he added about the show. “But I don’t think it’s necessary for me to pass it physically.”
