Jennifer Lawrence to Star in Real Housewives-Inspired Murder Mystery

The film is still in development, details about the plot and shooting schedule have not yet been disclosed.

Jennifer Lawrence is set to star in “The Wives,” a crime-crime film with a heavy dose of drama reminiscent of the series “The Real Housewives.”

In the film, Lawrence’s character will engage in feuds, drink all day, and enjoy a substantial amount of disposable income, until the discovery of a body changes everything.

Apple Original Films acquired the project in a competitive deal. Lawrence will produce the film through his company, Excellent Cadaver, alongside Justine Ciarrocchi. Jeremy O. Harris and Josh Godfrey, of production company bb2, will also produce.

Although the film is still in development, details about the plot and filming schedule have not yet been released.

Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley, known for their work on the Pulitzer Prize finalist play “Circle Jerk,” will write the screenplay for “The Wives.” The film is a collaboration between Apple Studios and A24, who previously teamed up on the 2022 drama “Causeway,” starring Jennifer Lawrence.

The partnership between the two companies extends to Spike Lee’s upcoming remake of Akira Kurosawa’s film “High and Low,” starring Denzel Washington.

Their past collaborations include projects like the Morgan Neville documentary “Steve! (Martin) a Documentary in 2 Pieces” and “The Tragedy of Macbeth,” directed by Joel Coen and starring Washington and Frances McDormand in lead roles.
