Auto Zone employee accused of stealing more than $4,000

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Michael Roberts, 25, was caught making dozens of fraudulent returns at the auto parts store.

Deputies from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from the Newberry Road Auto Zone and met with the regional loss prevention manager, who explained that Michael Roberts, the store’s parts manager, had stolen them.

Roberts had made 54 false transactions totaling $4,441.79, in which he returned items to the store for cash without actually returning them.

Roberts is currently being held at the Alachua County Jail.
