Supreme Court allows cancellation of NEET results for 1,563 candidates

The Center on Thursday told the Supreme Court that the decision to grant grace points to 1,563 candidates of NEET-UG 2024 by the National testing agency (NTA) was canceled and students will have the opportunity to apply for a retest on June 23.



The apex court was hearing petitions related to the controversial surrounding the NEET-UG, Exam 2024 for admission to MBBS, BDS and other courses.

The government told the court that a Committee was constituted to review the results of over 1,563 candidates who obtained ‘mark of graces’ to compensate for the loss of time incurred while appearing for NEET-UG.

The Supreme Court Tuesday willing of a petition regarding the allegations irregularities in NEET UG exam and allowed the Center to cancel the results of 1,563 candidates who obtained grace marks as compensation for lost time.

The top court also accepted the Centre’s proposal to organize a new exam for them. Candidates will be informed of their scores less the marks of grace. If they do not retake the test, new scores will be taken.

The court allowed the NTA to conduct a new test, most likely the June 23, and cancel the scorecards of the 1,563 candidates who chose to run. Affected candidates who do not wish to run for office new examtheir original scoreswithout the marks of gracewill be taken into consideration, he noted.

“The committee has taken the decision to cancel the scorecards of 1,563 NEET-UG 2024 candidates who have secured grace marks and these students will be given an opportunity to appear for retest, SC informed. The exams will be held on June 23 and the results will be announced before June 30th”, the NTA (National Testing Agency) told the apex court.

Guidance for admission to MBBS, BDS and other courses will be starts July 6NTA said.

Previously, the Supreme Court reviews published to the central government and the National Testing Agency (NTA) regarding the petitions for cancellation and re-examination of NEET-UG 2024, which were prompted by allegations of a paper leak And irregularities in the granting of graces.
