CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) – Cranston police say a patrol car was struck while trying to stop a stolen car Saturday evening.

Cranston Police Chief Michael Winquist said the collision occurred shortly after 4 p.m., when an officer attempted to stop a car registered as stolen.

Authorities said the car containing two suspects refused to stop, driving through Warwick before turning onto a dead-end street.

The car then spun around and struck the patrol car at the intersection of Manson Avenue and Norwood Avenue, resulting in minor damage to the patrol car’s tire, officials said.

Police said the officer was not injured, but added the suspects remained at large.
