“Do not come to the airport” warning as flights are delayed and canceled

Passengers are being advised not to travel to a major UK airport after a power cut led to the closure of two terminals. Terminals 1 and 2 at Manchester Airport have both had to cease operations after a power outage.

Power has been restored, but the airport says there will be serious delays and cancellations throughout the day.




A Manchester Airport spokesperson said: “A significant number of flights today are likely to be canceled and passengers planning to travel today are advised not to come to the airport without have previously checked with their airline.”

They added: “Manchester Airport was affected by a major power outage in the area earlier this morning. This has caused widespread disruption and a significant number of flights, particularly from Terminals 1 and 2, are expected be delayed or canceled.

“Passengers who need to travel from Terminals 1 or 2 are advised to contact the airlines for up-to-date information before traveling to the airport.


“Passengers who are due to board a flight from Terminal 3 should report to the airport as normal unless advised otherwise by their airline, but may be affected by delays.

“We apologize for any inconvenience and aim to restore normal service as soon as possible.”
