Gurgaon CEO shocked by ₹45,000 electricity bill, shares on

Gurgaon resident Jasveer Singh, co-founder of app Join Hood, stirred social media by sharing a snapshot of his two-month electricity bill, which was over ₹45,000. The sheer amount shocked the online community and sparked many reactions. Singh’s post, showcasing payment of the bill, left many in disbelief and sparked a flurry of comments, with people expressing surprise at the substantial sum.

The Gurgaon CEO wrote, “I have paid the electricity bill and am now thinking of switching to candles” in his post. He also shared a snapshot showing his Paytm payment of ₹45,491 for electricity.

Shared on June 23, this post has garnered nearly 3,000 likes and continues to attract more. It also received many comments.

One person commented that Singh should consider the size of his house and the number of appliances, such as air conditioners, lights, washing machines and dryers, and pointed out that a consumption of Higher electricity leads to higher bills and noted that Singh did not specify the two-month period, implying that he was ignorant of relevant details. They advised minimizing electricity consumption or accepting the cost without sensationalizing it on social media.

Another user asked if he was overloaded or excessively using air conditioners, inquiring about the number of air conditioners in his house and how long they were used for.

A third user recommended switching to solar if the bill is accurate and they own their home. They expressed satisfaction with solar energy, saying a one-time investment kept them happy for years.

Another X user suggested getting solar panels. She mentioned that after installing solar panels three years ago, her electricity bills were almost zero, even in the city’s 40-45 degree heat.
