THANKS to an army of volunteers, the annual Padgate and Woolston Walking Day has been hailed as a “great success”, with plans already in the works for next year’s event.

The event, which was under threat of cancellation, enjoyed glorious sunshine as hundreds of local schoolchildren took to the streets.

One of the volunteers, Jim Hunter, said: “Thank you to everyone who helped make Padgate and Woolston Walking Day a huge success.

For anyone who was considering volunteering but didn’t know what it might entail, let me assure you that it was not an onerous task, unless spending a pleasant afternoon in the sun watching hundreds of Happy, smiling children having fun doesn’t traumatize you.
“It was a great success and we hope that 2025 will see the return of schools that chose not to participate this year. A huge thank you to Councilor Susan Emery who took over while the organizing committee was in the process of canceling. Future years will be organized by Poulton and Fearnhead Parish Council.

Meanwhile, Cllr Emery, who helped coordinate the Padgate and Woolston walking day, said: “It was a fabulous day and I absolutely loved seeing all the children get excited! »
