Meghan Markle’s father makes desperate plea to meet his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet

Thomas Markle has revealed he feared he would die without ever meeting his grandchildren. Meghan Markle’s ex-father says he and King Charles have been “treated very poorly” by Prince Harry and Meghan over the years.

The Duchess of Sussex’s father, who did not walk her down the aisle and never met her grandchildren Archie and Lilibet, said the last decade of his life was “overshadowed” by the drama.

He told the Mail: “None of us deserve the treatment we received. Why have they treated not only me, but the royal family and the king so badly? Archie and Lilibet have two grandfathers who want them see, one of whom is the King of England.

It was reported that King Charles also rarely saw the children, as Harry and Meghan left the royal family and moved to California in 2020.

During a Channel 5 documentary, Thomas Markle: My Story, he admitted that he was not the most present father figure to Meghan, who has a close relationship with her mother, Dori. He said: “It went well for a while but I wasn’t at home enough.

“Doria also had other interests. What was happening in that house at that time didn’t make me happy. Then we divorced after that.

“At that point the whole family split up. Doria moved with Meghan to a nice little house and I saw her on weekends and whenever I could.”

Meghan and Thomas, however, continued to stay in touch until she became engaged to Harry and Thomas was accused of posing for paparazzi photos before the royal wedding.

As he approaches his 80th birthday, Thomas now hopes for a reconciliation with Meghan. He told the Mail: “I’ve never been one to celebrate a birthday, but I know the person I want to hear from most, Meghan, won’t contact me.”

He added that he had never met Harry and that he “really wished” he could “fix” the situation. He admitted that was the case and that he was “always ready and willing” to bury the hatchet.

Meghan opened up about her broken relationship with her father in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, revealing that she still grieves her old family life.

She said at the time: “I mean, I lost my dad. I lost a baby. I almost lost my name. I mean, there’s the loss of identity. But I I’m still standing, and my hope for people to take away is to know that there’s another side.”
