Review of Lazoschmidl’s Spring 2025 show, fashion show and ready-to-wear collection

Designer duo Josef Lazo and Andreas Schmidl de Lazoschmidl opted for a minimalist, minimalist vision, debuting a short film during a presentation at an art gallery. The film, a tongue-in-cheek take on perfume adverts, showed their mesh underwear and lots of flesh, while the clothes were cleverly hidden in drawers.

Key pieces of this season’s outerwear kept the spirit of underwear, including striped boxers and coordinating shirts for a pajama version of a lightweight summer outfit, which then morphed into simple cotton buttons. A sequinned shirt and baggy pants combo was a disco outfit for a pool party.

Pink was a key color worn in a denim look, including an overdyed vest and jean combo in heathered sunset tones that retained their peek-a-boo back pocket design, and a graffitied fleece to throw on after swimming. With many of their iconic Speedo-style swimsuits as well as some sweatpants looks on offer, much of the collection was beach-ready.

It all happened as part of some good summer fun. But even though the focus on underwear took them back to their roots (including the lookbook published as a zine), it left little room for the designer duo’s imagination and expectation.
