Women have been left “shocked and confused” after a man’s explanation of urinal etiquette to his wife took the internet by storm.

For those who are used to sitting down for their bathroom breaks, the world of urinals remains an enigma. But one man took it upon himself to demystify urinal protocol for his partner, completing a comprehensive set of rules for the stand-up affair.

During a conversation with his other half Courtney, social media influencer Alex Quist drew five urinals and asked the question: “You can only choose three stands. Do you know which ones?” Courtney hesitantly guessed that the correct choices would be the left, middle and right ones, prompting Alex to confirm: “That’s right, those are the only three stands you can take if you’re the one of the first people to go in. You I don’t want to be next to anyone. You always choose the ones who finish.

But it seems urinal etiquette is getting even stricter and confusing than that. Take, for example, when someone “breaks the rule” by opting for the slot between the end and the middle, while the rest is free. Then the next person has to select the furthest available one – but this disrupts the whole system.

Alex then established the “main rule”: never chat with anyone in a urinal. “You look at the wall and mind your business,” he ordered.

A perplexed Courtney then asked what the protocol would be if four people were to use the facilities. In this scenario, Alex clarified that if all three appropriate urinals are occupied, you are faced with a choice: either “suck up” and stand “shoulder to shoulder” with another person, or, unfortunately, opt for a stall . However, one particular “rule” regarding urinal etiquette left Courtney completely perplexed.

Her husband’s advice was that when using a stall, it’s “always good to keep the stall open while you pee” to make it more like a urinal experience.

Courtney was understandably baffled by this so-called “rule,” which she considered “weird.” However, according to Alex, it is not necessary to close it “it is not necessary if you are standing”. It seems Courtney wasn’t the only one confused by these bathroom tactics.
