New multisensory room for 0 to 3 year olds « Euro Weekly News

A multisensory classroom has been opened in a nursery in Mijas.

It is a place where children aged zero to three can develop their social, emotional, motor and cognitive skills.

The classroom was inaugurated on Thursday June 20 at the Europa municipal nursery school in La Cala de Mijas.

Ana Mata, Mayor of Mijas, said: “Thanks to their senses, children better understand the world around them. With this multisensory class, this knowledge and discovery of the environment is reinforced, because it allows them to explore new sounds, textures, images, smells, etc. Learning is more complete and fun for them.

A corner for every sense

The room has a corner for each sense; a visual space, an auditory corner, an olfactory corner, a sensory space, a taste space and a proprioceptive corner.

Each corner contains objects and activities that each child can explore.

New school program

In Mijas there are currently 540 places in nurseries as part of the family support program aimed at promoting enrollment in the first cycle of preschool education in Andalusia.
