Statement regarding the cancellation of the second Blaxhall race – GateDrop.com





After the decision was made to cancel the second round at Blaxhall which hosted the British Championship this weekend, organizers released the following statement explaining why the day was cut short.

Following the unfortunate cancellation of the second block of races of the Dirt Store ACU British Championship at Blaxhall, organizing club Woodbridge DMCC and RHL Activities the championship promoter would like to make the following statement.

Despite having more than the medical coverage required for the event, three ambulances had to leave the site within a short period of time. This followed a medical emergency with a spectator and then two riders seriously injured 30 minutes apart.

Unfortunately, the local hospital was running out of capacity. The patients had to continue to be treated by the medical teams of our event and were therefore not able to provide them with care and return to the site.

After a 90-minute delay and with medical teams still in hospital, the club and championship promoter had to make the difficult decision to cancel the second block of races, with the safety of runners and spectators of paramount importance .

Both the club and RHL Activities are deeply disappointed that the day had to end early, but they hope everyone understands that the safety of riders and spectators must be of paramount importance.
