First Look at Alfonso Cuarón’s ‘Disclaimer’: Cate Blanchett Caught in Controversy Over ‘TÁR’ Series and ‘Notes on a Scandal’

Alfonso Cuarón returns to television with Cate Blanchett making her debut in a landmark series.

Five-time Academy Award winner Cuarón is writing, directing and producing the upcoming Apple TV+ limited series “Disclaimer,” based on the bestselling novel by Renée Knight. The all-star cast also includes Kevin Kline, Sacha Baron Cohen, Lesley Manville, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Louis Partridge, Leila George and Hoyeon.

Blancett channels her counterparts “Notes on a Scandal” and “TÁR” for the psychological thriller centering on famed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett) who built her reputation by exposing the misdeeds and transgressions of others. Yet when she receives a novel from an unknown author, Catherine is horrified to realize that she is now the main character in a story that reveals her darkest secrets.

According to the official synopsis, as Catherine races to discover the writer’s true identity, she is forced to confront her past before it destroys both her own life and her relationships…
