On Monday, the Youngstown City School District sent out a memo considering halting all transportation to the high school and seeking to encourage students to use the WRTA to get to and from school.

The district, in an email, said YCSD “is legally responsible for transportation of all eligible students to the district, community or non-public charter schools where they are enrolled.” This transport totals 36 schools, including 14 from our own buildings. – With the growing bus shortage and recent $2 million hold penalty due to bus transportation issues, the district and school board are exploring transportation alternatives.

The statement said any final decision will be made by the board of directors.
