Federal Prison Inmate Arrested With Weapon, Sentenced to Additional 32 Months

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) — An inmate at the Terre Haute Federal Correctional Complex has been sentenced to an additional 32 months in prison for possession of an improvised weapon.

Javon Britton, a 44-year-old Georgia man, was arrested with the gun passing through a metal detector outside the dining room in 2019, according to court documents.

The weapon in question was a combination lock attached to a belt. When discovered, Britton ran and was approached by several officers, who took the weapon.

Britton is in prison for a 2015 robbery and is sentenced to 11 1/2 years. He has been incarcerated at Terre Haute prison since 2017.
