Treasurer Stacy Garrity Announces Upgrades to Award-Winning Transparency Portal |  The great book of the valley

Real-time revenue comparison with previous years and new federal funds details added to website

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania — Treasurer Stacy Garrity announced today that new features have been added to Treasury’s award-winning software. Transparency portalimproving access to the state budget and expenditure details.

Users can now, for the first time, easily compare current revenues collected in the current fiscal year with those collected in previous years. New features also include the ability to drill down into total and federal funds, and more easily navigate the portal on desktop and mobile devices, including quick links to budget details, income comparisons and federal funds.

“Transparency must always be a central aim of government, particularly when it comes to how taxpayers’ money is spent,” Treasurer Garrity said. “As a budget watchdog, I am always working to increase transparency, and the Treasury Transparency Portal is a critical part of that work. These new updates make it easier than ever for residents of the Commonwealth to see where their money is going and hold their government accountable.

New updates to the Transparency Portal include:

  • Income comparison – Users can compare the revenue received in the current financial year with the revenue received in previous years up to FY 2018-19.
  • Federal funds – Users can see funds received from the federal government and how they are used by the Commonwealth.
  • Easy access to fund details – A scrolling menu allows users to easily view the status of a specific fund (such as the General Fund, Automobile License Fund, and Lottery Fund).
  • More Options – When reviewing fund details, users can choose to view data for 1 year, 3 years and 5 years (in addition to 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, since start of year and all available).
  • Improved home page navigation.

The Transparency Portal also includes tools to review state budget detailsTHE Fiscal Health Dashboardwhich presents financial data comparing Pennsylvania to similar states, and the Treasury checkbook which discloses payments made by the Treasury to its suppliers. THE Electronic contract library allows anyone to review more than 500,000 state agency contracts, purchase orders, and amendments valued at $5,000 or more.

The Treasury Transparency Portal includes data dating back to 2014. Since taking office, Treasurer Garrity has added numerous features to the site, including access to Ledger 5which tracks unallocated spending and the ability to see county and state level data on the Pennsylvania Unclaimed Property Program, the PA 529 Education and Career Savings Program, Keystone Scholars, and the PA ABLE Savings Program.

The Treasury Transparency Portal has won numerous awards, including the Center for Digital Government’s 2022 Government Experience Project Award, the 2018 CIO 100 Award, a Digital Edge 50 Award, and the 2017 PA Excellence in Technology Award. It was a finalist for the NASCIO 2018 Data Management and Analytics Award.
