Ohio man, Butler woman accused of trying to flee traffic stop, dragging police officer into car

State police said two people tried to drive away from a traffic stop with a trooper in their car.

It was 1:30 a.m. Sunday when the officer first stopped Lamar Bailey, 36, and Kelsey Meyers, 28, near the intersection of Vogel Road. The duo allegedly parked in a Sheetz parking lot, but then decided to accelerate, causing the officer to get into the car as the driver hit the gas on Route 8.

“They leave without concern for his safety and well-being. What’s the point of having a cop if you don’t listen? » said Cal Dittman.

Officers were able to stop the car 200 feet down the road, arresting Bailey and Meyers.

Kimberlee Antolik of Butler said, “A lot of people need to respect police officers and not do things like that,” Kimberlee Antolik said.

“We hold them to higher standards. They go to school, they get training and you have a certain Joe Schmoe who doesn’t care,” Dittman added.

State police said that after Bailey and Meyers were arrested, their empty car reversed, hitting a responding state police car.

This same police car required biological decontamination after a passenger tried to spit out the window.

State police said Bailey and Meyers were under the influence and in possession of controlled substances.
