Person killed by train in West Auckland, all train services canceled

A person has been killed after being hit by a passenger train in West Auckland this evening.

As a result, train services across the town have been suspended and road closures are in place around the Woodward Rd level crossing in Mt Albert.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 6:30 p.m. and police advised the public to avoid the area.

“The death will be reported to the coroner,” police said.

A passenger train could be seen stopped at the level crossing at the scene of the death, surrounded by several police cars and a St John vehicle.

Services on all train lines will be canceled for the remainder of the night, according to an update from Auckland Transport.

“Due to an incident with emergency services, all train services are suspended until the end of services. Regular buses accept rail passengers to and from all stations.”

Rail replacement buses will serve stations on the Western Line, while regular bus route 74 will stop at Onehunga station.
