BTS Singer V Surprise Announces New Music

2024 is shaping up to be a very busy year for the members of BTS. While six of the seven singers are currently enlisted in the South Korean military, several of them have still managed to release new music in recent months. Now, another boy band musician has revealed that more of his iconic works are on the way.

On Tuesday (June 25), V’s label, Big Hit Music, revealed that something new was coming. The project is titled Type 1and fans won’t have to wait very long to hear it.

A poster shared on social networks announcing Type 1 explains that it will be available for pre-order on June 27 (Korea time). The music will actually be released on July 9.

There is a major mystery about Type 1: what is this? At the moment, it is not yet clear whether the title refers to a song or perhaps an entire collection. Either is possible, but for now, V and his team are keeping the mystery alive.

It’s been less than a year since V released his first solo collection, a short set titled Stop. The project debuted and peaked at number two on the Billboard 200, making him one of several band members to be one rung away from owning the top album chart in the United States.

Stop produced several singles, and two of them reached the Hot 100. The title track “Love Me Again” only reached #96, while the third and final track from the project, “Slow Dancing”, was more successful. This song danced all the way to number 51.

Since then, V has largely focused on his military service, which all men in South Korea must participate in at a certain age. He dished out an additional track, “Fri(end)s,” which became a Hot 100 hit earlier this year when it climbed to No. 65.

V is the latest BTS member to announce new solo music this year. Jung Kook returned to the Hot 100 last week with “Never Let Go,” his latest album. Jimin has a new project called Muse expected next month. RM, the leader of the group, shared his latest album Right place, wrong personin mid-May.
