Case against unidentified passenger for leaving hijacking message on tissue paper on plane

The international airport police have registered a case against an unidentified passenger who had recently left a message threatening hijacking on a tissue paper in the toilet of the Kolkata to Bengaluru flight.

The incident came to light when the cabin crew, Olivia Maitram, completed the formalities after the flight landed and passengers disembarked. After locking the doors, she went to the bathroom and found tissue paper with the message “hi-jack 6E411 06/9/2024.” She alerted the captain who informed security personnel.

A complaint was lodged with the jurisdictional police who had registered an uncognizable report and sought permission from the court to register an FIR for further investigation.

Based on the court’s directions, the police on Monday registered a case charging the unidentified passenger under Section 505 (1) (B) (dissemination of false messages) and 507 (criminal intimidation by anonymous communication) of the Code Indian Criminal Court for further investigation.
