Time is finally running out for the release of Nag Ashwin’s magnum opus, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. As enthusiasm for the film reached new heights just hours before its release, rumors started doing the rounds online claiming that the Prabhas and Deepika Padukone starrer IMAX 3D shows had been canceled in theaters across the country.

Viral tweets alleged that “IMAX 3D shows have been canceled across India”, sparking concern among fans.

Others claimed that their tickets were canceled at locations ranging from Noida to Malad West, leaving only 2D options available for booking.

Reacting to these rumours, sources told ETimes, “These rumours are all false. Calibration for 3D works differently and takes time. Booking for 3D shows will definitely be available after some time.”

“Kalki 2898 AD” is set in a dystopian era and is written and directed by Nag Ashwin. Inspired by Hindu scriptures, the film is set in a post-apocalyptic world in 2898 AD. The star cast also includes Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, Brahmanandam, Shobhana, Saswata Chatterjee, Pasupathy and Malvika Nair in key roles.

The film sees Bachchan portraying the character of Ashwatthama while Prabhas plays the role of Bhairava, Haasan plays the role of Supreme Yaskin, Deepika plays the role of SUM-80, a pregnant lab subject, and Disha plays the role of Roxie.

Scheduled to hit the screens on June 27, the film has already attracted considerable attention with advance bookings at the box office surpassing the 1.3 million ticket sold mark. With just a day to go for its release, the film has already clocked an estimated Rs 40 crore ahead of first day bookings. Apart from its strong performance at the domestic box office, Kalki 2898 AD is also poised to make a significant impact in the international markets and is reportedly set to debut to Rs 200 crore.
