Bemidji High School Marching Band Hosts “Meet the Band” Event

BEMIDJI — The Bemidji High School marching band held its “Meet the Band” event June 18 at the high school. Due to inclement weather, the group performed their “Spaghetti Western” marching show in the BHS gymnasium.

Director Derek Wickum, drum director Eric Sundeen and color guard director Tyra Graham thanked the show’s seniors and special contributors, including Ella Tingum and Trista Wickum. Sylvia Heglund received the drumming award and Color Guard honors were given to Sophia Haubrich, Mya Degelder and Moraya Holleman.

Participants were also able to enjoy a pulled pork meal.

Prior to “Meet the Band,” the group won second place in the Class AAA competition June 14 in Benson and second place in the Class AA competition June 15 in Buffalo.

The group continues its season with competition on Sunday, June 30 in Lake City and at Valley Fair on Monday, July 1. The group will return to Bemidji for its Fourth of July parade on Sunday, July 7. Another performance is planned for Friday. , August 9 at the Lumberjack Scramble.
