A bourbon inspired by baseball legend Babe Ruth

A new release from Indiana distillery Remus Bourbon celebrates one of the most iconic figures in American sports: Babe Ruth. Remus Babe Ruth Reserve is a blend of three bourbons, each rich in rye and aged for six to seven years, combined into a limited release.

“Remus Babe Ruth Reserve is a special collector’s edition inspired by one of the most iconic figures in American history, the immortal Babe Ruth,” said Allison O’Brien, brand manager at Ross & Squibb Distillery . “Remus is inspired by the best bourbon of the 1920s, and his partnership with the best baseball player of the 1920s gives bourbon and baseball fans a unique and memorable way to celebrate America’s pastime.”

The bourbon has a proof of 55.5%, blended from three barrels from 2016, 2017 and 2018. The high proof helps carry the flavors of brown sugar and fruits like fig as well as the cinnamon spice that comes from the high proportion of rye used in each.

The release consists of just over 10,000 bottles – or 10,624 to be exact, or one for each plate appearance Babe creates, and each bottle is numbered and features a QR code with information on the performance of Babe on the plate appearance matching that particular bottle. number. The bottle also has other homages to the classic era of baseball, with a 1920s art deco style design featuring diamonds, a print of Ruth’s signature and a baseball bat-inspired cap.

Babe Ruth Reserve will be available in stores next month and each 750ml bottle will sell for $150.
