Kudos to The Powder Room champagne bar in Tacoma

One of Tacoma’s hottest new restaurants and bars is none other than Powder Room Champagne Bar, located in the heart of the Stadium District.

Where fashion and food intertwine, the restaurant bar features pink draped curtains, disco balls, floral backdrops and a vibrant, fashionable aesthetic, bringing plenty of style with bubbling champagne and delicious dishes to match .

Last fall, the bar and restaurant officially opened and has since become a popular venue for birthday parties, brunches, date nights and events. Founders Cameron Gilmore and Kia Smith are both seasoned entrepreneurs and friends. They had envisioned a new business venture together, which could be a fun and vibrant place where women could interact and have fun. This vision ultimately led to their new creation.

“As two enterprising, bubble-loving women, we recognized the need for a multi-faceted space in our area, a meeting place, refreshing oasis and haven for parties or escape, perfect for a girls’ night out or date night, The Powder Room is the culmination of our dreams and years of planning,” said Gilmore, General Manager.

“We just wanted something different,” said Smith, the marketing manager. “We figured that since we were both at a point in our businesses where we no longer needed to be there 24/7, we could delve into something completely new.”

Both ladies also love to travel and have discovered a variety of different cities and foods, which has also inspired them to bring a chic vibe to Tacoma for women.

“We’re more than champagne and have a full bar. And Tacoma is known as the Grit City, so we always joke that we’re the glamor of the city,” Smith said.

Gilmore and Smith also juggle other businesses, with Smith operating South Sound Lashes and Gilmore owning Image Studio of Dance for the past decade.

For the powder room itself, their vision has been fully realized and guests can expect to be transported to a glamorous, fun and sophisticated venue. Expect an ambiance full of lively energy, a beautiful interior and plenty of selfie backgrounds. Pink and green velvet chairs coincide with sleek pink tables, a flower-adorned phone booth is available for a photo-worthy moment, and a full bar is present with craft cocktails, bubbles, wine, and beer.

For food, options include their $35 per person brunch menu with a choice of waffle tower, breakfast tacos, eggs Benedict and more.

“The food is amazing. Our boozy brunch is what we’re most popular for right now,” Smith said.

“I love how surprised people are when they come to dinner and comment on how good the food is,” Gilmore added. “Our fresh leaf of summer right now is fire. And brunch is definitely our bread and butter. It would be a shame to miss it. Brunch is half family and half a la carte. You get scones for breakfast, arugula/burrata salad and breakfast potatoes to share on the table, then you choose a main course for yourself We also have mimosa and Bloody Mary carts that. are rolling and everyone loves our brunch punch.

During brunch, guests can also enjoy music from a live DJ, which adds a party vibe to the mix. For cocktails, drinks include fun and flirty themed options such as the Powder Room Margarita, with chili tequila, lime syrup, oranges and jalapenos and other unique cocktails such as the Grit City Cosmo, with rum, lime and cranberry juice, and Kiss My Paloma. , featuring mezcal, grapefruit juice, lime agave nectar, and club soda with bubble float.

“Our craft cocktail menu is a lot of fun because you can get the cocktail with or without a bubble float,” Gilmore said.

When you visit, be sure to try their dessert cart that circulates around the restaurant, which includes seasonal items such as macaroons and mini cakes.

“The dessert cart is super fun. We try to do interactive things,” Smith said. “The dessert cart is a new addition and has been enjoyed by our guests. I think dessert is one of those things that involves all the senses and if people can see our dessert offerings then they are more inclined to decide they ‘need it,'” Gilmore said.

Also note that lunch and dinner are offered during the week, while brunch and dinner are offered on weekends.

Gilmore and Smith recently added to their business repertoire and launched the new boutique “Shop Bubbles & Besties,” an online store for women featuring some of their favorite clothing and fashion trends.

“Shop Bubbles & Besties started as a way to connect with the restaurant,” Smith said. “We always have people asking us where our outfits (that we wear) come from, and we’re like why not have a platform to be able to showcase the things we love? So it’s definitely more focused on outfit brunch and evening.

The ladies even recently held a fashion show inside The Powder Room showcasing clothing from their boutique and plan to host many more. Since its opening, the restaurant has hosted numerous events featuring women’s networking groups, as well as local musicians performing during dinner hours. The restaurant also plans to host Halloween, Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties, much like last year, and has also seen more men venturing out for brunch and dinner.

As for operating out of Tacoma, the experience was memorable for both women.

“I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. This is where we live, where we raised our kids and where we live,” Gilmore said. “Of course we want to reinvest in the community we live in.”

Besides brunch, bubbles and fashion, head to Powder Room Champagne Bar every Thursday for dinner, live music and follow them on Instagram for future events.
