City of Jackson announces hiring of new human resources director

Merriweather is a Jackson native with nearly a decade of experience in human resources.

She most recently worked in employee relations for Ford Motor Company in BlueOval City.

Merriweather is passionate about workforce planning and implementing initiatives that improve employee satisfaction and retention.

Human Resources is responsible for supporting city employees, from the Police Department and Fire Department to Public Works and Parks and Recreation.

“It will be our responsibility to continue to hear the voices of our municipal employees. How can we continue to advocate for them but also give them the support that they need, you know, through technology, through data and just continue to move our department forward but, of course, continue to support them,” Merriweather said.

Merriweather currently serves on the Keep My Hood Good Board of Directors and the University of Memphis-Lambuth Alumni Council. In her spare time, she demonstrates her passion for singing as a praise and worship leader at Greater Visions Church.
