Police make arrest in Roxbury after traffic stop

BOSTON — Boston police arrested a 29-year-old man on gun and drug charges Monday after a traffic stop in Roxbury.

At 11:47 a.m., members of the Youth Violence Strike Force stopped a vehicle that was reversing on a one-way street near 610 Shawmut Avenue.

Officers approached the car and asked the driver, Edward De Los Santos-Naveo of Boston, to stay inside.

During the check, police found a Glock 43 handgun with nine rounds in the magazine.

It was later determined that the firearm had been stolen in Maine.

Officers also recovered 29 bags of marijuana and approximately $780 in cash.

De Los Santos-Naveo was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, receiving stolen property under $1,200 and level two armed career crime.

He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
