Top prospect on Clemson Tigers tight end reveals thoughts

The Clemson Tigers were looking to add offensive talent to their 2026 recruiting class. Dabo Swinney fielded offers to several different playmakers.

One name to watch is tight end target Tayveon Wilson.

Wilson, officially listed as a wide receiver, is being targeted by Clemson as a tight end. At 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, he would have some bulk to do, but the Tigers clearly feel he can fit into that role.

Hailing from Huntington, West Virginia, Wilson has emerged as a very intriguing prospect to watch. Many different schools have expressed interest in integrating it into their curriculum.

Although there is plenty of interest elsewhere, Wilson seems very intrigued by Clemson. He spoke about the Tigers in a recent interview.

First, he talked about the Clemson camp he attended and how it was different from other camps.

“I liked the camp. It was organized differently from all the other camps. We didn’t do the 40-yard dash or anything. Not any of that. We’ve just started the action. It was probably my favorite camp just because of that.

After his impressive performance in camp, Wilson received an offer from the Tigers. He talked about the offer and how it was presented to him.

“He said he would call me a few weeks after seeing everyone at camp. Then he called me on June 18th, I think, and we talked on the phone for about half an hour and then he proposed to me. I was excited, I was pumped. No words can describe it.

Wilson gave a short and sweet answer when asked what factors matter most to him when looking for a school to join.

“Higher education and a technical staff who is ready to push me. »

If those two things are what Wilson is truly looking for, he’ll find them with Clemson.

Swinney helped develop and push many players to the NFL. He is one of the best head coaches college football has ever seen. Wilson would be wise to trust him.

Expect to continue to hear more from Wilson in the weeks to come. There is no news on when the tight end target will reveal his commitment decision, but the Tigers must feel like they have a good shot.
