How to book your stay at Ski Portillo

Heat waves sweeping across the United States make planning a southern hemisphere ski trip even more appealing. While Americans seethe in 100-degree temperatures, ski resorts in Chile and Argentina are experiencing their deepest start to the season in more than 20 years. More than 76 inches have fallen in the last five days and there is more in the forecast. Ski Portillo’s Hotel will welcome its guests for its 75th season this Saturday.

Accommodation in Ski Portillo

If you want to stay in Portillo, the only options are the properties operated by the Portillo Hotel. The next closest area with accommodation is around 65 km away, in Los Andes. Staying at Portillo is often likened to staying on a cruise ship in the middle of the Andes, as guests typically book 7-night ski weeks, with check-in and check-out on Wednesday or Saturday. Customers also have the option to book mini-weeks of three or four days. Most of the time, you’re there with the same guests and often dine at the same tables throughout your stay, giving it a retro mid-century vibe, like the family vacation lodge from Dirty Dancing. All accommodation is ski-in/ski-out and includes hotel amenities and access to the main dining room.

There are four types of accommodation at Ski Portillo, Hotel Portillo, Octagon Ski Lodge, Inca Lodge and Chalets. All accommodation stays include lift tickets, four meals per day (breakfast, lunch, tea with snacks and dinner) and access to hot tubs, swimming pools, games room, fitness, climbing wall, basketball court, cinema room and bar. , lounge, dance floor, library and beauty salon. Check-in time is 2:00 p.m. and check-out time is 11:00 a.m. Guests who depart before 10:00 a.m. receive an eighth day of skiing free. Whether you are traveling alone, with friends, as a couple or with family, there is something for you. The resort welcomes up to 450 people each week, which means there are no lift lines.

Hotel Portillo

The Portillo Hotel has 123 rooms with five room types, including the Lake Room, Lake Room (sixth floor), Lake Room (with balcony), Valley Room, and suites with one or two bathrooms. All rooms have Wi-Fi, telephone, safe, minibar and hairdryer. 2024 rates for a 7-day Signature Ski Week start at $3,050 for a Valley View room per person based on double occupancy.
