5 of IM Pei’s Most Iconic Buildings: Meet the Chinese-American Architect Celebrated at M+ Hong Kong

The first major retrospective of Chinese-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei (1917-2019) will soon open at M+, Hong Kong’s Museum of Contemporary Visual Culture. Featuring more than 300 objects – some never before seen – “IM Pei: Life Is Architecture” highlights his life and work, as well as key projects such as the modernization of the Louvre in Paris and the design of the Bank of China Tower. China in Paris. Hong Kong and the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha.

The exhibition, accompanied by a 400-page monograph published by Thames & Hudson in collaboration with M+, includes recently commissioned photographs of Pei’s buildings by seven international photographers, as well as five models of his projects by architecture schools from the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
