Ultimate Ears announces new Everboom speaker, Boom 4 with USB-C, and more

How many Boom brand speakers are too many? Can there even be any? Ultimate Ears seems to be on a mission to find out. The company just announced the $249.99 Everboom, now the sixth speaker in its lineup. In terms of size and price, this one falls between the Megaboom speaker and the $299.99 Epicboom launched late last year.

The Everboom has the typical EU features: it’s IP67 (dustproof and waterproof), it will float if you drop it in a pool or lake, and it comes with a detachable carabiner. There is an outdoor boost mode that adjusts the sound profile for wide-open environments while improving bass response. The battery lasts up to 20 hours and NFC pairing is easy, but that’s it for the features list.

The Boom and Megaboom benefit from “improved deep bass radiators to unleash even more powerful sound”. And the Wonderboom gets a new feature of its own: a podcast mode that’s set “for enhanced listening to favorite hosts and stories.”

I’m already dreading how this might be used on the New York subway, but maybe I’m just assuming the worst in people.

With the Everboom and other hardware upgrades to other EU speakers, here’s how the lineup now looks:
