Lisandro Martinez sends poignant seven-word message after Argentina win against Chile, Alejandro Garnacho reacts instantly

Alejandro Garnacho sent a message to his Manchester United teammate Lisandro Martinez after Argentina beat Chile 1-0 in the 2024 Copa America in the United States.

Lisandro Martinez and Alejandro Garnacho have been named in Lionel Scaloni’s 26-man squad for Argentina’s Copa America title defense this summer.

Martinez has become a key defensive figure for Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni and played the full 90 minutes of both Copa America matches for his country.

The Manchester United defender impressed with his superb performance in Argentina’s 2-0 Group A opener against Canada at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Martinez returned to the starting XI for Argentina’s second consecutive Copa America game and partnered Cristian Romero at the heart of the defense.

The 26-year-old Argentine central defender produced another strong display against Chile, with Lautaro Martinez scoring the winning goal for the 2021 Copa America champions.

Martinez and Garnacho share messages

Argentina’s 1-0 win over Chile at MetLife Stadium on Wednesday sent Lionel Scaloni’s men into the quarter-finals of the Copa America.

The 2022 World Cup champions currently top Group A and will face Peru on June 30 before playing in the round of 16 of the competition.

Lisandro Martinez took to Instagram and posted an emotional message after Argentina beat Chile in their second Group A match.

“All together, all united!!! Come on, damn it!!! “, he wrote, according to an approximate translation.

Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho, unlike Martinez, was unable to secure regular playing time for Argentina in this summer’s Copa America.

The 19-year-old Spanish-born winger was an unused substitute in Argentina’s Copa America matches against Canada and Chile.

Despite his lack of involvement in the Copa America, Garnacho took to Instagram and reacted to Martinez’s post by leaving a message in the comments.

The United winger simply wrote: “El 1”.

Scaloni on Argentina’s victory against Chile

Lionel Scaloni has admitted that Argentina had a “well-deserved” victory and that the match against Chile was not “easy” for the Albiceleste.

“It was a well-deserved victory,” he said, according to Yahoo Sport.

“The truth is that the match was not easy and we won at the least expected moment, I would say.

“But as always, the team continued to believe and attack even if they started to stretch a little more in the last 10 or 12 minutes.”
