Donald Trump’s lawyer outraged by FBI raid of Peloton bar

Donald Trump’s lawyer in his classified documents case was “outraged” by the FBI’s search of the room where his son Barron’s Platoon was located, according to reports.

At a hearing in Fort Pierce, Florida, the former US president’s legal team argued that the search of his Mar-a-Lago residence in 2022 was “unnecessary”, “overbroad” and in violation of Trump’s Fourth Amendment rights.

Legal contributor and MSNBC correspondent Katie Phang, who was covering the case this week, posted on , Trump’s lawyer, exclaims indignantly to the judge. Cannon that while executing the search warrant on Mar-a-Lago, FBI agents searched the room where Barron Trump’s Platoon is located.

Other media outlets, including the Courthouse News Service, mentioned this comment in the context of Bove claiming that the allegedly “broad” nature of the warrant led FBI agents to search Melania and Barron’s rooms, as well as the of exercise.

He said Monday: “This was a huge property, we’re not talking about looking for a single-family home or an apartment.

“The government must establish probable cause to search the areas it established in (the warrant).”

Prosecutor David Harbach insisted that the officers “did not go everywhere” on the property, only in places authorized by the warrant.

P.A.

He argued that Melania and Barron’s bedrooms were included in the warrant because Trump had direct access to those rooms.

“There was evidence that these boxes had moved,” he said. “It would have been irresponsible of them not to look there.”

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee, appears unconvinced by her team’s argument.

She said she felt the warrant was “quite peculiar” and asked her lawyers: “Would you agree that the paperwork is the sort of thing that can be discovered anywhere?”

Trump is accused of trying to interfere with federal efforts to collect classified documents after losing the 2020 election.

He was indicted on 32 counts of willful withholding of national defense information under the Espionage Act, seven counts of obstruction and one count of making false statements . He denies all accusations and insists on his innocence.

The hearing, which began Friday, also saw Trump’s team claim that special counsel Jack Smith, who indicted Trump last year, was illegally funded.

Judge Cannon heard the prosecution’s request to issue a hush order that would prevent Trump from reporting the agents.

She has not yet ruled on any of these motions and has postponed the trial date indefinitely.
