Everton receive €10m offer from Atalanta for Ben Godfrey

Everton have received an offer worth €10m (£8.46m) from Atalanta to sign defender Ben Godfrey.

The verbal proposal fell below Everton’s asking price of £15 million, which is the figure offered by another club for the 26-year-old.

Godfrey is believed to be keen to join Atalanta, but the Serie A side need to get closer to Everton’s valuation if they are to stop him moving elsewhere or staying at Goodison Park.

The two-cap England international is entering the final 12 months of his contract, but Everton would rather let him leave as a free agent in 2025 rather than sell him for less than their desired price.

Godfrey has made 93 appearances for Everton since arriving from Norwich City in January 2016.

He played 16 times in all competitions for Everton last season.

Tim Iroegbunam signed from Aston Villa while Jack Harrison joined Leeds United on a season-long loan.

Meanwhile, Iliman Ndiaye, the Marseille striker, is to undergo a medical ahead of a £15million move.
