Michael Vaughan slams ICC over World T20 Championship scheduling, alleges tournament is India-centric: ‘It’s so unfair on…’

Former cricketer Michael Vaughan has expressed his anger at the ICC for its ineffective management of the T20 World Cup tournament schedule. In his recent article on X, Vaughan mentioned how the South African team players were unable to train or get used to the new venue due to the flight delay. In his other post, Vaughan also claimed that the T20 World Cup tournament was all about India.

“Surely this semi-final should have been Guyana’s… but with the whole event being focused on India, it’s so unfair to everyone else,” Vaughan wrote on X.

Expressing his anger at the ICC over the schedule of handling the T20 World Cup, Vaughan wrote: “Afghanistan therefore qualify for the winning semi-final of the World Championship in St Vincent on Monday evening. 4 hour flight delay on Tuesday in Trinidad, so no time to train or get used to a new one. place.. total lack of respect for the players I’m afraid.. #T20WorldCup2024.”

Earlier, Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma also raised concerns over the ICC’s scheduling decisions. “No one controls the air conditions, you don’t know what’s going to happen. The only thing that worries me is that if the match continues late enough, we have a chartered flight and we might miss it,” Rohit said at a press conference referring to the India vs England match which will have takes place on Thursday June 27.

The ICC had determined in advance that the second semi-final, in which India had secured a fixed berth, would not have a rain-day. The decision was questioned by the captain of the Indian cricket team. Moreover, the ICC was accused of bending the rules in India’s favour.
